Come and spend 6 days with Aisling Ní Cheallaigh and Jenny Tufts in beautiful Sligo, Ireland and learn the art of sticking out your arse! After two editions of Spins and Spirals we couldn’t be more excited to announce that we are doing it AGAIN! Come join us in our aerial home on the beautiful west coast of Ireland for a week of spinning, spiraling and learning how to stick out your arse while flying through the air! This six day intensive includes a day off in the middle where you can choose your own adventure: a surf lesson in the wild Atlantic or a relaxing sauna with an optional sea swim. (Or you can do both for an extra fee!). 

This year we are not assigning a level to each week, instead we are asking students to send a video of their current practice (detailed instructions are below) and we will assign a week to each student. 

Please note when we say spiraling we mean in a hoop and NOT in a spiral. If you’d like to try out the spiral you will have to catch Jenny at one of her workshops (sign up for her newsletter to be the first to hear about the next one!).

  • 5 days of Aerial classes with Jenny and Ash

Pre-requisites for attending

These intensives are aimed at students who have aerial experience and so there are a couple of pre-requisites required. Please send us a video and include the elements below. (When you fill out the booking form there will be a space to add a link to your video). 

Note: Please don’t let the requirement of a video deter you. We are only asking for videos to ensure that no one travels all the way to us only to find the workshops do not benefit them. Even if you’re not sure you can do all the pre-requisites throw a video together anyway and send it into us. The worst case scenario is you may not be able to attend but if you don’t send a video at all then you definitely wont be able to attend so you may as well!  (The video can be of training or a performance you feel clearly shows the prerequisite skills or a custom made video)

Please Note: Applications without a video will not be considered and your place will not be saved. Please make sure you upload the video with your application. 

  • 1 - 3 mins of choreography (a string of tricks or sequences together) while spinning.
  • Please include an entry into the hoop while spinning fast

Transport

The intensive will take place in Acro Aer which is a 15 minute drive from the centre of Sligo town and as we are in the beautiful wilds of Ireland there is unfortunately no local public transport.  If it is within your budget we would therefore highly recommend renting a car.  Not only will it facilitate you getting to and from the studio, there are also so many beautiful sights to see around Sligo from mountain hikes to forests to stunning beaches  to cosy pubs that you can only get to by car. 
 
 If you opt into the WhatsApp group when filling out the booking form you will be able to chat with other participants and plan both car shares and accommodation. 
 

Accommodation

There are many options for accommodation around Sligo including some excellent airbnbs and hotels. If you opt in on the WhatsApp group you can co-ordinate with other participants to find shared accommodation. As mentioned above please bear in mind the there is little to no public transport once you reach Sligo so we advise you stay somewhere central close to shops etc or think about renting a car. 

Last year we offered accommodation at our beautiful home in Leitrim, 25mins from Sligo and the studio and we are doing it again this year! This is only the second time we are welcoming guests into our home and we ask you to bear in mind that this is not commercial accommodation but something we are in the process of crafting for artists and future residencies.  

We have the following rooms available, the price shown is per person. The rooms are all shared and we don’t have any private room options available. There is an option in booking form below to specify who you would like to share your room with if you are planning on sharing with friends.

  • Large Room 1  – (3 single beds) €175pp

  • Twin Room 1 –  (Two small cabin style beds) €175pp
  • Twin Room 2 –  (Two  small cabin style beds) €150pp
  • Twin Room 3 –  (Two  small cabin style beds) €175pp
  • Twin Room 4 –  (Two  small cabin style beds) €175pp
  • Studio – (One Double Bed and one single loft bed – really nice for couples) €200pp
 

All the cabins come with a kitchen and shared bathroom with shower.  All guest have access to an infrared sauna, a communal dining space and a yoga studio for any extra curricular warm down and stretching. 

Students can check in the day before classes start and check out at 11am the day after classes finish. You will be able to specify which room you would like to sleep in and also if there is anyone you would  like to share with. As this is on a first come first serve basis the room you want may not be available but we will be in contact with you asap to organise alternative options.

Please note: There is no public transportation between Sligo town to the accommodation so if you are not renting a car please remember to budget for a taxi. We also advise doing your grocery shopping in Lidl which is near the bus/train station before driving out to us or getting in the taxi. The accommodation is a 24min walk (5min drive) from the nearest shop and pub so we recommend you bring all your supplies when you arrive. We will help organise car pooling for those without cars to get to and from the studio and accommodation.
